These are some of the questions we get most often, and some facts that we really want to put out there.
Right now! We own a beautiful 58 acre bit of land that we'll start building on, sadly planning permission does take a long time to sort out but we have lots to do in the meantime. Currently we are focusing on biodiversity projects as we build up the site is to help us target the advancement of environmental protection or improvement. These can be found in our project page!
We are! It has taken us a long time and a lot of hard work but we finally made it! Our charity number is SC051764.
This is our most commonly asked question, and our answer seems to make people a bit sad so let us explain! The answer is no. The only people who will be allowed to interact with the animals are our volunteers, clients and staff. We thought about letting people feed and pet the animals as a way to bring in more people, but the idea didn't feel good. We want to work with animals who were not seen as a living creature and used in some way as a product, and it didn't feel right taking them from that environment and bringing them here to do the same. We just want them to be able to heal and find peace in their new home. But you will be able to get close and enjoy other activities on the land!
It goes directly to the charity bank account! No middle man or passing through hands, just directly to the charity. The board of trustees have to vote on how the money gets spent and anything over £500 has to be voted on before the money is spent. This will go into care for our residents, building power and water lines to the property, planning permission and construction, and running our programs!
Unfortunately no. Due to the location of the site, we need to keep the site closed to the public. But there will be plenty of volunteer opportunities if you want to spend a day helping us out!
Volunteers and clients will be able to access our site daily via our minibus service.
